Thanks, Nate. I've never seen or heard of the AeroPress until now. I might consider getting one of these if it is small enough to pack well for travel. I don't like bottled water, or even "filtered" bottled water, because many times they sit on the shelves for a long time at the stores. If I have a long hotel stay (3 nights or longer is considered a long hotel stay for me if clean-tasting water is involved!), I bring my own water filter (like a used one from my Brita - and I replace the one at home with a new one). I also bring a large ziplock bag which packs easily. I then cut a hole in the plastic bag to fit the water filter snugly (kind of like you would cut a hole when you would use a simple plastic bag to use as a pastry bag for piping filling/frosting) - does that make sense? Then I fill the bag with tap water, run it through the filter, and into a cup. (I also bring those Platypus water containers which pack flat and fill those in the hotel room.) The two drinks I drink most often - water and coffee.

While this method is no longer my absolute favorite (see my siphon pot video) http://www.coffeenate.com/siphon-vac-pot-tutorial... it is an excellent way to brew coffee. This is the only method using a paper filter that creates a rich cup! The flavor is really smooth, and drinkers with occasional stomach problems affected by coffee drinking have noted that the AeroPress greatly reduces this symptom!

AMAZING BUT TRUE! Well it's been a few weeks since I first tried the AeroPress and I am more conviced now that it is the best brewer that I have had yet! I am consistenly getting a ton of crema! The secret for me it two things. Use freshly ground coffee ( less than 5 minutes old) and stir vigorously for 10 seconds, let sit for 10 seconds and then depress the plunger with your entire body mass...reallly lean into it! There will be a lot of resistance until you see the air work through the 'puck'. At this point, it becomes much easier to plunge it and that is when the crema comes forth! Add the espresso to a half of a cup of hot water, not the other way around. If you add water to the espresso, you kill the delicate crema. Enjoy! :)
